This cosmetic restoration was carried out by a professional lacquer specialist. The process involved meticulous stripping of the original chrome from each component, followed by several coats of paint (in homage to the Safari limited edition). The finish is a premium baked enamel coating, applied in four thin layers to ensure exceptional durability and increased resistance to chipping and peeling.

This meticulous artisanal process ensures long life while preventing oxidation and paint deterioration. The glossy lacquer finish, Leica’s hallmark, is renowned for its complexity and the demands it places; it gives the camera a unique and striking aesthetic. With prolonged use, the body will gradually develop a brassing effect (exposure of the underlying metal), creating a rich and beautiful patina that embodies the classic charm of a Leica that has seen use.

The camera is in excellent condition and fully functional, with an impeccable finish. All components have been tested; the body is in very good condition and the shutter speeds are precise. The rangefinder operates correctly and the shutter curtains are perfectly flat and in excellent condition. The viewfinder has undergone a professional overhaul: it is bright and sharp, enabling fast and precise focusing thanks to the yellow rangefinder patch.
