Description from the seller
It is undoubtedly an original masterpiece from the Meissen porcelain manufactory. Determination based on the details. The mark (authenticity & age): On the underside of the foot is the world-famous cobalt blue sword mark under glaze. It is exactly the so-called knopfschwerter (marked by the round knobs at the ends of the handles). Quality & additional marks: The swords show no wheel marks, which means it is first choice. The hand-painted blue numeral “25.” and the letter “I” are typical painter’s, form’s, or bowyer’s numbers from the manufactory, used for internal quality control and assignment. [1] (https://extrart.de/index.php/archiv/34-porzellan-archiv/756-meissen-teller-streubluemchen-u-gold-knaufzeit-1-wahl-d-ca-25-cm) The condition: The relief on the inner side shows in the center artistically designed, smaller gold grape leaves with tendrils and a central, engraved rosette. The gilding (polished gold) is remarkably well preserved and shines vividly. Only minimal signs of aging (slight dust/patina in the recesses) are visible, but the delicate, sculptural leaf tips at the edges appear largely undamaged. Market value assessment (as of 2026): A Meissen sidepiece with grapevine relief and full gilding of this size (height 18 cm, diameter 22 cm) and in first-choice quality from the Knaufzeit is an absolute top piece. Auction and dealer value: In this excellent, undamaged condition the realistic market value among specialized antique dealers or in the upper art trade currently lies between €650 and €1,100.
