Emilia Romagna, a signed first edition (1985) by Franco Fontana, published by Arnoldo Mondadori Editore in Italian, hardcover, 188 pages, about 150 colour photographs, in excellent condition.
Description from the seller
Exceptionally signed on the title page by Franco Fontana (1933 - 2026), unique and unattainable as a signed copy and today practically unavailable as an unsigned copy on the Internet. 188 pages and about 150 color photographs, texts in Italian by Alberto Bevilacqua as well as a one-page text by Franco Fontana. Solid publisher's hardcover binding illustrated on the cover. In excellent condition.
This book was published in a Mondadori collection covering all regions of Italy. The volume on the Veneto region was created by Gianni Berengo Gardin, the one on Campania by Mimmo Jodice, and the one on Sicily by Ferdinando Scianna (see the other listings about them in this same sale). All the books in this collection are organized into different chapters: The land and its people, Cities and countryside, Living in the region, Beyond the region, With and without nostalgia.
Franco Fontana was born in 1933 in Modena, Italy. From the start of his photography career he chose color and quickly became interested in the representation of the landscape, of which he has become the undisputed master. By removing any superfluous element from his images, he combines lines, shapes, and colors with great economy of means, allowing him to reach a degree of abstraction akin to modern painting, and with extremely simple forms he composes abstract landscapes that bring together two or three color zones.
Copy in excellent condition, with slight age-related wear (see photo). A book from my personal collection kept in its original state with the utmost care. Shipped protected with reinforced packaging and guaranteed international postal tracking.
