Byzantine Bronze Reliquary Cross (Enkolpion) with Orthodox Iconography – 9th to 12th Century AD
A Byzantine bronze reliquary cross, or enkolpion, decorated with raised Orthodox Christian imagery arranged across the arms and central axis of the cross. The front presents a series of sacred figures in relief, including a central standing figure and several busts of saints or holy personages within rounded compartments, while the reverse is comparatively plain.
