Signed; Nino Migliori - Crossroads, Via Emilia - 2006

An elusive signed copy on the title page by Nino Migliori (born 1926). The photographer here explores the famous Via Emilia, which runs across northern Italy from Milan to the shores of the Adriatic Sea, using a revolutionary photographic process he developed that consists of using two cameras, one facing forward for a shot controlled by the photographer and the other facing backward for an unknown shot. The photographs are here presented in pairs, revealing two aspects of reality, each as interesting as the other. 82 black-and-white photographs, publisher's illustrated binding on the cover with a jacket also illustrated.

In 2005, when he undertakes this project, Nino Migliori is nearly 80 years old and he walks through certain sectors of the Via Emilia, prioritizing intersections. His double exposures attest to the double nature of photography as a deliberate act by the photographer who is also exposed to unexpected, unforeseen and fortuitous elements that Migliori thus favors in appearance. The first presentation image does not appear in the book, but it perfectly illustrates this absolutely original and unprecedented method, another image, unfortunately too small to be reproduced here, illustrates on the jacket this mode of shooting.

Nino Migliori (born in 1926) began taking photographs in 1948 as a self-taught photographer and quickly became part of the same photographic group as Mario Giacomelli, Piergiorgio Branzi and a few others, the 'Misa' itself from the group 'La Bussola' driven by Giuseppe Cavalli.

A leading figure of the Neorealist school of photography, Migliori produced a rich and meaningful body of work in postwar Italy. Alongside the representation of reality, Nino Migliori engaged in various creative experiments to conceive new images with techniques such as oxidation, pyrograms and hydrograms, as well as older techniques like photograms on glass (clichés-verre) or photograms. With the Polaroid he explores the possibility of leaving his own imprint on the photographic paper during the short development time. The last exhibition he is currently presenting in 2024 at the Castle of Ferrara is titled “An Endless Search.”
