Pair of torch-bearing putti carved in polychromed and gilded wood - 19th century.

Torch-bearing putti, holding stylized torches; the curved element of the right figure belongs to the design of the torch and its drapery, not to a lyre.

Probable identification: Italian production, in Baroque style, 19th century.

Pair of winged putti carved in wood, polychromed and partially gilded, depicted in motion and holding large torches. The figures have ivory-toned bodies, hair and drapery gilded, and wings painted in blue-green. Decorative work in Baroque taste, probably Italian, from the mid-19th century.

The polychromy shows aged patina, craquelure, darkening, and small losses and abrasions in the gilding, consistent with age.
