Description from the seller

Superb bifold/ portefeuille-style gaming table from the Napoléon III era in marquetry and mother-of-pearl.
Refined gaming table in Louis XV style / Napoléon III period, crafted in geometric marquetry known as “cube” pattern in rosewood and rosewood (palissandre).
The upper surface is richly decorated with a central oval cartouche inlaid with genuine mother-of-pearl marquetry, bringing a very fine sheen and great elegance to the piece as a whole.
The top surface, lined inside with the original green felt in excellent condition, pivots on a central axis and unfolds like a wallet to open onto the cabinet’s frieze.
It rests on four curved feet adorned with superb inlays of veneers and feet in chased gilt bronze.
Condition report:
Mother-of-pearl inlays: Presence of small losses and wear on the mother-of-pearl elements of the top, fully consistent with the age and authenticity of the piece.
Structure / Feet: A discreet old restoration is present at the end of one foot (metal reinforcement/attachment), very solid and almost imperceptible from a distance.
General: Good overall wear with a magnificent period patina.
Dimensions:
Height: 75 cm
Length: 80 cm
Depth (closed): 38 cm
