Description from the seller
Rare 18th Century St. Cloud Soft-Paste Porcelain Prunus Blossom Vase
A beautiful and rare small vase made of fine soft- paste porcelain, attributed to the renowned Saint- Cloud manufactory of France, dating from the early to mid-18th century.
The vase is finely decorated on both sides with delicate prunus (plum blossom) branches in relief, with the thicker sections of the branches forming the elegant side handles. The pure white soft-paste porcelain gives the piece a particularly refined appearance, while the finely modelled relief decoration demonstrates the exceptional craftsmanship associated with early Saint-Cloud porcelain.
Examples of this type are rarely encountered on the market. The piece bears a Saint-Cloud mark to the underside, as shown in the photographs.
A charming and highly collectible example of early French soft-paste porcelain, suitable for both collectors of Saint-Cloud porcelain and those interested in early European ceramics. Dimensions:
Height: approx. 4.5 in / 11.4 cm
Width: approx. 2.625 in / 6.7 cm
Depth: approx. 2 in / 5.1 cm
