Half of a natural agate geode with a central amethyst cavity, cut and polished on one face to reveal the internal structure.
The piece clearly shows the successive growth stages typical of Brazilian silica geodes: on the outside the rough, porous beige-gray crust, residue of the volcanic matrix; toward the interior a layer of clear and milky quartz with elongated crystals and a sparkling surface; then concentric bands of agate and chalcedony in white, gray and lavender tones; in the center an irregular cavity lined with a druse of medium purple amethyst, with small crystals and natural luster.
The cut face is polished and allows a clear reading of the bands; the back is left rough.
The piece is self-supporting and stands on the cut base, without support.
