A collection of fifteen antique silver sewing tools from the Netherlands dating to the 19th century, including a ribbed needle case with a shield mark, a thimble box with a silver-plated mount, a measuring band on a ribbed centimeter, a slider, a stamp with a sterling mark, a stop needle, a boot-shaped thimble cap, and an open thimble, weighing a total of 98 g and in good condition with minor signs of wear.
Description from the seller
Beautiful collection of antique silver sewing tools consisting of:
- Needle case, ribbed and provided with a shield. Marked zwwardje 1813-1906 and master mark. Length 12 cm and also solid at 19 g. Condition good with a few small dents
- Thimble box, with a silver-plated copper frame and leather-like appearance. In the box a thimble with lily motifs and marked 800
- Measuring tape with band, ribbed model. Marked zwaardje 1813-1906 (sits just under the edge and hard to capture in a photo. Condition good, the measuring tape is still in, winding mechanism still works. The band should be finished on the outside with a silver rim to prevent the band from disappearing inside. This rim is missing and has been solved with a tiny piece of duck tape with a staple through it.)
- Sliding piece, marked zwaardje 1813-1906
- Wash stamp with decorated stem/handle marked sterling
- Stop needle, adorned with engravings and marked with zwaardje 1813-1906
- Knitting needle cap in the shape of a shoe
- Open thimble, so-called thumb thimble. Unclear stamped (sleets keur) possibly 18th century
- Set of 6 assorted thimbles, including miniatures. These are variously stamped including tax marks from the 19th century (wolf head) 800 with master mark. One thimble slightly damaged
Very attractive set with antique diverse components
