Artemide Eclisse PVD Gold, iconic desk lamp designed by Vico Magistretti in 1965.
Eclisse represents one of the most famous and recognizable projects in 20th-century Italian design. Designed for Artemide in 1965, it received the prestigious Compasso d'Oro in 1967 and has entered the permanent collections of major international design museums, including MoMA in New York and the Triennale Design Museum in Milan.

The project is based on a simple yet brilliant insight: a fixed outer shell contains a rotating inner lampshade that allows manually adjusting the lamp's opening. By rotating the inner part you can regulate the light emission, moving from a more direct light to a progressively shaded light, until the characteristic eclipsing effect is created.

This version is the Eclisse PVD Gold, identified by the original Artemide code 0028150A. The gold finish gives the distinctive spherical volume a luminous and sophisticated metallic surface, creating an interesting contrast between the simplicity of the form and the precious finish.

The PVD finish (Physical Vapour Deposition) is produced through a vacuum deposition process of the metal, developed by Artemide as an alternative to traditional galvanic processes. The surface is subsequently protected with a transparent coating to preserve its aesthetic quality over time. Artemide also notes the PVD process as a coating technology characterized by extremely low emissions and waste production.

The lamp can be used as a table lamp or mounted on the wall, preserving in both cases the possibility to orient the inner lampshade to control the light.
