A porcelain teacup and saucer from Thomas/Germany in a cluster of cottage-rose on a soft pearl-crème base. The rose composition is a continental cottage-garden bouquet: pink cabbage roses with yellow asters, violets and small wild hyacinths and green leaves, set against the ivory-colored pearl glaze typical of Bavarian porcelain from the mid-century. The rim features a hand-engraved gilded band with a fine secondary line, and the handle is a fully gilded curly scroll: all gold, not just a gold rim—a continental detail that elevates the piece above typical English porcelain. The saucer is deeply scalloped with a relief edge and the floral garland runs around the rim.
