A vintage chandelier-style lamp from France, model Diseño Araña, in brass and etched crystal dating to 1950–1960, measuring 47 cm wide by 36 cm high by 30 cm deep, in good used condition and in working order.
Description from the seller
It is a chandelier that reinterprets late Art Deco in the 1950s and 1960s, when the style had already shed the geometric exuberance of the thirties to become a more sober, more architectural language, yet still deeply linked to the shine of brass and the theatrics of handcrafted cut crystal.
The metal body, worked in brass with a warm, slightly satin finish, shows that blend of elegance and functionality so typical of the era: restrained curves, arms that arch with sculptural intention, details that aim not to clutter but to structure the light. It isn’t ostentatious brass; it’s brass that provides presence, that frames the piece and gives it that air of a well-built object designed to last.
The cut crystal shade, with its frosted surface and geometric reliefs, introduces the most artisanal part of the design. Each facet, each line hand-engraved, captures the light and disperses it into soft sparkles, creating a luminous effect that wraps the room in an elegant, almost cinematic clarity. That manual workmanship is perceptible in the texture, in the form, in the way the crystal seems to breathe when the lamp is lit.
The whole — structural brass and cut crystal — defines a piece that combines modernity and discreet luxury. It is a lamp that not only illuminates but also makes a statement, brings character, and embodies that moment in Italian and European design when Art Deco evolved toward a refined modernism — more intimate, more domestic.
Certified shipment and good packaging.
