Description
The object features a flattened rectangular body with a distinctive trilobed hinged upper lid and two side rings, originally intended for attaching a cord or chain for transport.
Made of a copper alloy, probably brass, it features rich decoration executed by incising, chasing and stamping. The surfaces are adorned with dense vegetal scrolls, geometric motifs, rosettes and repetitive borders, with a darkened background that creates a strong contrast with the relief parts.
On the upper lid at the center appears a small radiated rosette or solar motif, interpretable as a shamsa, inserted among large stylized vegetal scrolls. On the opposite side there is a wide circular medallion formed by concentric scrolls.
The sides are also fully decorated and retain the large suspension rings. The interior is unlined and shows oxidation and patina due to age and use. There are light metallic tones and traces of copper oxidation, compatible with a copper-based alloy possibly surface-finished.
