The particularly popular amethyst from Uruguay can, however, usually be distinguished from its Brazilian relatives by its typically paler color, and in the case of higher-quality amethyst, the color of the Uruguayan amethyst is overall darker and considerably more intense. The majority of amethysts from Uruguay are mined in open pit mining. And thus require a multitude of steps to be freed and cleaned to absolute perfection. Which makes such a piece even more special for your home.
