Nice lot with 7 lip and ear plugs, made of quartz, rock crystal and carnelian.
Until recently lip plugs were used in West Africa as body ornamentation. Such plugs were also applied along the outside of the ears, as can be seen from the perforations on archaeological terracotta figures.
