Set of 12 decorative bed terminals in brass, nickel-plated/argentate finish, dating to 1900–1910, made in Italy in antique style; each piece is 6 cm deep, 6 cm wide and 18 cm high, with good used condition and a natural patina.
Description from the seller
An intriguing and coherent set of 12 decorative brass terminals nickel-plated/silvered, which, through wear and time, have oxidized to a typical dark gray-silver, lived patina.
The hand chasing and engraving of the background (with that characteristic granular/hatched effect that makes the raised swirls stand out) indicate a quality artisanal craftsmanship of a higher level.
Each terminal is built in two configurable sections (interlocking pieces and screw-fastened), the main spherical base and the upper crowning element, featuring rich swirl and volute motifs hand-embossed with a grooved background.
Style/Origin: Salvaged decorative elements from an antique bed from the late 19th/early 20th century, of Italian artisanal manufacture.
Conditions: Good overall considering the era. They show a beautiful original patina of time, with superficial wear to the plating that attests to their authenticity and gives a strong aesthetic impact of “shabby chic” / industrial. As these are fully hand-worked and finished objects, they display small and fascinating reciprocal asymmetries.
