Maple & Co mahogany sideboard from the United Kingdom, dating to the early 20th century, 200 cm wide, 216 cm high, 70 cm deep and weighing about 180 kg, featuring an original bevelled mirror on the ascent, turned columns, raised relief carvings, period hardware and the original Maple & Co. plaque.
Description from the seller
Important Maple & Co. sideboard (London & Paris), an authentic English piece of high cabinetry dating from the late 19th to early 20th century.
Made of fine solid mahogany, it retains all of its original elements: a raised shelf with the original moulded mirror, turned columns, refined bas-relief carvings, period hardware, and the original plaque from the famous Maple & Co., one of the most prestigious British furniture manufactories of the Victorian and Edwardian era.
The piece was personally purchased in London about forty years ago and has remained in the same private property ever since. It is therefore not a recently released item on the market, but furniture with documented provenance and family history.
The craftsmanship is evident in every detail: artisanal workmanship, elegant proportions, rich sculpted decoration, and superior finishes—characteristics that made Maple & Co. a supplier to the aristocracy and the European high bourgeoisie.
The condition is very good for its age, with normal and slight signs of wear consistent with more than a century of life, which confirm its authenticity and charm.
An important piece with great stage presence, intended for collectors, antique dealers, interior designers, or connoisseurs of original English furniture. Complete examples with the original mirror, manufacturer mark, and certain provenance are increasingly difficult to find on the market.
