Description from the seller

Wooden reliquary and feathers – Tsogo – Gabon

This reliquary made of wood and feathers is attributed to the artistic tradition of the Tsogo, a people primarily settled in the center of Gabon. Reliquaries hold an important place in practices related to the cult of ancestors, notably within Bwiti, where certain objects participate in the preservation and protection of ancestral relics. The wood sculpture, combined with the feathered elements, forms a piece that is both expressive and symbolic, bearing witness to the know-how of Tsogo artisans.

Through its sculptural character and the richness of its materials, this piece brings a singular presence to a collection of African art. It also naturally finds its place in a contemporary interior, where textures and traditional forms create an elegant dialogue with a contemporary aesthetic. A collectible piece for collectors sensitive to the history and artistic traditions of Gabon.
