Description from the seller
HIGHLIGHTS:
• Characteristic Mercedes-Benz 200 D 'Heckflosse' (W110) from 1967
• From the dry climate of California (USA) with a rust-free body and solid undercarriage
• Reliable 2.0-liter diesel engine with rear-wheel drive
• Equipped with brand-new tires with classic 'white walls' and an original Blaupunkt radio
• European import duties and VAT fully paid including accompanying customs documents
HISTORY & OVERVIEW:
The Mercedes-Benz W110, introduced in 1961 and colloquially known as the 'Heckflosse', marked an important era for the brand with Béla Barényi's innovative safety cage and crumple zones. The subtle wing-like fins gave the model a distinct 1960s look, combined with the renowned German reliability. The 200 D was introduced in 1965 as the successor to the 190 D and was powered by the legendary reliable OM621 two-liter diesel engine. This particular example from the year 1967 was directly imported from the dry state of California. All European import duties and VAT have already been paid, and the accompanying customs documents are present.
EXTERIOR:
Thanks to its origin in the dry Californian climate, the bodywork and undercarriage are rust-free. The paint is original and shows a well-used patina with light dents and signs of wear consistent with age. The car sits on brand-new tires with 'white walls'. The door rubbers are dried out. New glazing for the front indicators is supplied loose with the car.
INTERIOR:
The interior presents neatly with normal signs of aging appropriate for a 60-year-old classic. The cabin features the original Blaupunkt radio. Both the boot space and the inside of the vehicle are in a well-maintained condition.
ENGINE AND TECHNICAL:
Under the hood lies the 2.0-liter four-cylinder diesel engine paired with a manual transmission. The engine bay is nicely presented. The engine starts smoothly, runs properly and the car drives and shifts well. On a cold start the exhaust shows slight smoke development. To equip the vehicle with a European/Dutch license plate, some technical work is required.
DOCUMENTS:
The vehicle is supplied with the original manuals/booklets, documentation and the proofs of paid European import duties and VAT (customs documents). A tool kit is also included. Due to its 60-year age, no Certificate of Conformity (C.O.C.) is required for registration within Europe.
The vehicle can be viewed and collected in Damwoude, Netherlands. It is recommended to view the vehicle first before making an offer to avoid disappointment. To make an appointment you can contact Catawiki. Bids are exclusive of transport and export, unless stated otherwise. Arranging transport, ownership transfer and any registration/export costs is the responsibility of the buyer. The seller can optionally assist with transport across Europe.

Disclaimer
Catawiki always aims to offer you the best possible buying experience. Our experts virtually review and select every vehicle in line with our submission guidelines and we require our sellers to provide the most accurate description of the vehicle. However, providing a fully detailed analysis of the vehicle is extremely difficult, and close to impossible. To guide you, we ask our sellers to provide information about the vehicle’s condition. Please consider that most vehicles for sale are classic vehicles and they often already have a whole life behind them, meaning that even a condition 1 or 2 vehicle might need maintenance to be ready for the road. It is advised to carefully read our submission guidelines that further describe details about the condition grades and types to manage your expectations. Cars are sold “as is”, meaning as described and in the condition they are in at the time of the sale and without any representation, warranty or assumption of liability of any kind as to the condition by Catawiki or by the seller. The condition of this item is the opinion of the seller and may differ from yours, your local garage, or the dealer’s opinion. This does not automatically mean the car does not conform to its description. Before bidding, please check your local legislation regarding vehicle registration. Neither the seller nor Catawiki is responsible for the registration of the vehicle in your country and will not accept a cancellation for your failure to register the vehicle. We also recommend that, if possible, you arrange a viewing with the seller before placing a bid.
