Rare J.J.M. Hoogervorst “Paperclip” Wall Lamp for Anvia – Dutch Mid-Century Modern, c. 1958 – In good condition – No reserve.

A highly desirable Dutch Mid-Century Modern design classic by J.J.M. Hoogervorst for Anvia.
This iconic “Paperclip” or “Elbow” wall lamp is model 71-01 and dates from around 1958. Contemporary design references identify the model as a Hoogervorst design for Anvia, with its characteristic articulated metal arm and adjustable white painted aluminium shade.

The beautifully sculptural construction allows the lamp to be positioned in numerous ways. Both the long articulated arm and the aluminium shade can be adjusted, making it equally suitable as a reading light, desk/task light or atmospheric wall lamp.

The combination of the slender dark metal framework, warm vintage wiring and large aluminium reflector gives this lamp an unmistakable industrial yet elegant Mid-Century character. The substantial approx. 21.5 cm diameter aluminium shade provides a strong, directional light.

J.J.M. Hoogervorst (1918–1982) was one of the most important Dutch lighting designers of the post-war period. His functionalist designs for Anvia are now highly sought after by collectors of Dutch Mid-Century Modern design. The Paperclip is particularly recognisable for its ingenious articulated construction and distinctive graphic silhouette.

Condition: vintage pre-loved condition with authentic signs of age and use, including surface marks and patina to the metal and aluminium. These characteristics contribute to its authentic vintage appearance. Please study the photographs carefully.

The lamp is currently fitted with a European two-pin plug and is shown illuminated.
