Dish - Stoneware - Rare Lung Ch’uan celadon

Very rare Celadon Lung Ch’uan greenware plate/bowl from the Chekiang province. A very famous stoneware, with a beautiful blue-green tactile glaze. Elaborated during the Northern Song Dynasty to resemble green jade. The green glaze covers a simple decoration and falls short of the foot rim. This is a heavy piece of stoneware it has two bubbles on the inside from production, and on the foot rim a couple of small nipples; this is not a moulded piece but turned from the potter’s wheel, in a very fine-grained reddish stoneware body. This piece could be from the early Ming, or earlier. Diameter: 29 cm. Height: 9 cm. Weight: 1.5 kg.
