Entomology Set - “The Complete Book of British Butterflies,” by F. W. Frohawk, 1st edition of 1934, and a Vintage Exhibition Display with Lepidoptera.

Uncommon collection dedicated to entomology, consisting of a copy of the first edition of “The Complete Book of British Butterflies,” by Frederick William Frohawk, and a wall display with natural insect specimens.

The book, published in London by Ward, Lock & Co., Ltd., in 1934, features a green cloth-covered hardback binding with the title and author gold-stamped on the spine. The work is richly illustrated, with 384 pages, 32 colour plates, and more than 160 drawings made from life. Foreword by Lord Rothschild.

The display features a symmetric arrangement of butterflies and moths, mostly exotic, arranged around a large specimen of a moth from the Saturniidae family. The arrangement also includes several small metallic-coloured beetles. Natural specimens mounted on a light backdrop, protected by glass and framed by a carved and stained wooden frame. It has no taxonomic labels or provenance indications.

The display may not correspond to a British butterflies collection illustrated in the book; it should be understood as a decorative piece and an entomological collecting item, probably made in the mid-20th century.

Condition consistent with age.
