Description from the seller
Six complete plaster molds for making wax ex-voto offerings – heads and legs – first half of the 20th century
Professionally shipped – over 950 five-star reviews worldwide.
Special collection of six complete two-part molding molds for the production of wax ex-voto offerings.
Four molds depict human heads, each with a front and back side. The two remaining molds are intended for legs. Each mold consists of two matching plaster halves in which the form is worked out in negative.
Wax ex-voto offerings were donated to churches and pilgrimage sites as thanks for a granted favor or healing, or to support a prayer. The depiction often referred directly to the person or the body part for which protection or healing was sought.
The molds come from a collection of old wax ex-voto offerings and production materials. The different sizes, signs of use, and discolorations attest to their original artisanal function.
Dimensions: from approx. 8 × 7 × 6 cm for the smallest to approx. 15 × 6 × 7 cm for the largest closed mold.
Condition: authentic used condition with signs of age and use, discoloration, wear and local small damages to the plaster. All six molds are complete and consist of two matching halves.
