Description from the seller
Large ovoid stoneware vase from the famous Belgian manufacture Boch Frères Keramis in La Louvière, dating from the Art Deco period and featuring a remarkable decoration cataloged under pattern number D.767. This important piece bears matte and glossy cloisonné enamels on a finely crazed beige background, decorated with stylised rose motifs highlighted in brown, ochre, and a touch of almond green at the core. The flowers are elegantly separated by vertical lines composed of elongated brown diamond patterns, creating a geometric rhythm typical of the creations from Charles Catteau's workshop. The flared collar and the circular pedestal foot are highlighted by a solid dark brown glaze. On the reverse, the base features the black circular stamp printed by the manufacture indicating Made in Belgium - Boch Fes - La Louvière - Fabrication Belge, the handwritten incised inscription Grès Keramis, the pattern number D.767 as well as the vase shape number 942 and the painter's mark C 2. Regarding its dimensions, this vase stands at a height of 30 cm, with a collar diameter of 10 cm, a base diameter of 12 cm, and a maximum belly diameter of approximately 16 cm. This is a heavy piece with an individual weight of 2350 grams. The condition of this object is good, with no chips or major cracks to the structure, showing only a few light oxidation spots and small firing imperfections inherent to the ceramic which are entirely normal and consistent with its age.
