Louis XV Column - 1850-1900

Ancient carved wooden flower column - Louis XV style - 19th century.

Elegant flower column or display pedestal, crafted in solid wood with a warm tone, probably walnut or another fruitwood. Tall, slender structure, consisting of four curved and moulded legs, ending in worked feet, joined by a second base or lower circular shelf.

The upper waist features carved and partially pierced decoration, consisting of volutes, acanthus leaves, palmettes and vegetal motifs. The circular top, slightly recessed, is surrounded by a broad carved frieze with stylized leaves.

A piece in Louis XV taste / Rococo revivalist, probably continental European production - possibly French or Belgian - dating to the late 19th century or the first decades of the 20th century. No visible maker's mark.
