Boch Frères - Vase (2) - Earthenware - Bucolic decor vases

Pair of cabin or mantelpiece vases with an architectural stepped shape typical of the Art Deco period, attributed to the famous Belgian manufacturer Boch Frères Keramis in La Louvière. These earthenware pieces feature a flattened geometric skyscraper or ziggurat structure, characteristic of 1920s or 1930s design. The front face of each vase features a vertical hand-painted panel depicting a stylised bucolic landscape with a small rural house with a red roof and a tall slender tree in shades of green, standing out against a cream background. This central decoration is framed by lateral shoulders in a deep cobalt blue with a textured streaked effect, highlighted with crossed lines and gold gilt accents. The back of each vase is flat and completely covered with this same nuanced cobalt blue glaze. On the reverse of the base, the pieces do not bear a visible factory stamp, but one of them features a handwritten painter's mark in the form of the letter R painted in black underglaze. Regarding the dimensions, each vase measures 22 cm in height, 12 cm in maximum width, and 6 cm in depth. The individual weight of each piece is 500 grams, bringing the total weight of the pair to 1000 grams. The overall condition is good with normal signs of wear due to age. There are minor wear marks to the gilding on the edges as well as a chip located underneath the base of one of the vases, which remains completely invisible when the piece is placed in position.
