A Belgian modern ceramic art vase by Fernand Carpent, in stoneware (grès) dating to around 1961, standing 37 cm high with a 13 cm neck opening and about 20 cm maximum belly diameter, weighing 2600 g and in excellent condition.
Description from the seller
Large ovoid ceramic art vase with a flared neck, created by the Belgian ceramicist and painter Fernand Carpent (1928 - 2011) in Bouffioulx and dated from the year 1961. This masterpiece stands out for its highly modern abstract expressionist decoration, characterized by dripping effects and overlapped splashes of cobalt blue, brown ochre, beige, and white enamels. The pictorial work on the material creates a subtly glossy play of textures that brings a striking dynamism to the rounded and slender belly of the vessel. On the reverse, the unglazed red-brown terracotta base is incised into the mass with the artist's handwritten signature F. Carpent and bears the numerical inscription of the date 61. Regarding the dimensions, this particularly imposing vase measures 37 cm in height, with a neck opening diameter of 13 cm and a maximum belly diameter estimated at approximately 20 cm. This is a massive and heavy piece with an individual weight of 2600 grams. The overall condition is described as excellent and flawless, with the structure showing no cracks, chips, or fleabites anywhere on the glaze.
