Iconic Zip-Light Table Lamp by Sigmar Willnauer
Original packaging, never assembled!
For sale is a true design rarity from the 1990s: the "Zip-Light Junior" (height approx. 30 cm), designed by Sigmar Willnauer for the Italian manufacturer Naos. This lamp has, among other things, been included in the permanent collection of the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art (SFMOMA).
It consists of two vertically interlocking elements. The lamp impresses with an unconventional material mix. It is made from a base of robust saddle leather and a foldable lampshade made of plastic. The eponymous element is a long, functional zipper (Zip) that runs along the leather body. The shade also gets its shape from a zipper. Due to its distinctive silhouette, which resembles the headdress of a nun, the model is colloquially known as "The Nun" or in Italian "Monaca". (In addition to the Junior model offered here, there is also a larger version about 55 cm tall.)
The absolute highlight: The lamp is in pristine, unused condition (New Old Stock / NOS). It has never been assembled, and the plastic elements have consequently never been bent.
