Description from the seller
Monumental Ceiling Lamp from the late 19th and early 20th century - Diameter 170 cm
Large-format ceiling lamp with an imposing circular perimeter structure, designed especially for large halls or rooms with high ceilings.
A collectible piece of a very exclusive period edition.
The main body features lanterns covered with translucent salmon silk fabric and filigrees of patinated brass and bronze.
It presents strong staging and iconography decoration including detailed figurative reliefs of griffins or winged dragons facing each other that flank a central heraldic shield with a crowned rampant lion.
It integrates external arms ending in cap-shaped tulips of cut opaline glass, a large central lower tulip with geometric and radial floral motifs, and a rich perimeter cascade of crystal teardrops and garlands.
Dating and Context: Late 19th century and early 20th century (c. 1890-1914), framed in the period of historicisms and European eclecticism that lead toward Art Nouveau.
• Materials and Components:
Patinated brass and bronze structure.
Drum and perimeter details lined with silk fabric in salmon tone.
Opaline glass tulips (both the outer cap floreal shapes and the large central lower tulip with radial reliefs).
Garlands, teardrops and beads of cut crystal hanging.
Dimensions: Measures 170 cm in diameter and 110 cm in height, making it an exceptionally proportioned piece ideal for main salons or spaces with very high ceilings.
Note: Original patina. The lamp is actually gold in color.
Author or Foundry Marks: Lacks a visible signature to the naked eye due to its elevated placement.
Lamp with all its pieces. It is complete.
Works.
For safety and integrity of the piece it is shipped with tulips, and some crystals even disassembled.
Shipped protected, perfectly packed, ready to travel.
