This sale offers a collection of works from the studio of a Belgian painter, gathered over time according to his discoveries, his encounters, and his affinities. The artists have often maintained a privileged connection with primitive arts: sensitive to the force of forms, to the simplicity of volumes, and to the expressiveness of materials, they were among the first to look at these objects differently than mere curiosities. Their eye, naturally attentive to lines and balance, led them to collect these works and, at times, to draw inspiration from them. This collection thus bears witness to an intimate dialogue between artistic creation, the collector’s eye, and a fascination with forms from elsewhere.
