Celebrated and rare art volume published by the prestigious Milanese publishing house Franco Maria Ricci within the series "I segni dell'uomo" (it is no. 32), printed in 5000 numbered copies on special blue-tinted paper (this is copy no. 1056).
The work is a refined selection and an in-depth study of the famous Codex Manesse (the Great Manuscript of Heidelberg), the most important and monumental collection of Minnesang (courtly love lyrics) of the German Middle Ages. It contains critical essays on the literature of the Minnesänger and on the history of miniatures, and offers a rich selection of lyrics with the original text in German and the facing Italian translation.
