This sale offers a collection of works from the studio of a Belgian painter, brought together over time through his discoveries, encounters and affinities. The artists have often maintained a privileged connection with the arts of the first peoples: sensitive to the strength of forms, to the simplicity of volumes and to the expressiveness of materials, they were among the first to view these objects other than as mere curiosities. Their eye, naturally attentive to lines and balances, led them to collect these works and, at times, to draw inspiration from them. This collection thus bears witness to an intimate dialogue between artistic creation, the gaze of a collector, and a fascination with forms coming from elsewhere.
