The artists have often maintained a privileged link with the arts of the ancestors: sensitive to the strength of forms, to the simplicity of volumes and to the expressiveness of materials, they were among the first to look at these objects differently from mere curiosities. Their eye, naturally attentive to lines and balance, led them to collect these works and, sometimes, to draw inspiration from them. This collection thus bears witness to an intimate dialogue between artistic creation, the collector’s gaze and a fascination with forms from elsewhere.
