This sale offers a set of works from the studio of a Belgian painter, gathered over time as a result of his discoveries, his encounters and his affinities. The artists have often maintained a privileged link with primitive arts: sensitive to the power of forms, to the simplicity of volumes, and to the expressiveness of materials, they were among the first to regard these objects differently from mere curiosities. Their eye, naturally attentive to lines and balances, led them to collect these works and, sometimes, to draw inspiration from them. This collection thus bears witness to an intimate dialogue between artistic creation, the collector’s gaze, and fascination with forms from elsewhere.
