Description from the seller
Rare and elegant version of the “Danseuse aux cymbales” signed JANLE and issued by Max Le Verrier
Remarkable sculpture for the finesse of its execution and the elegance of its silhouette, characteristic of the Art Deco aesthetics of the 1930s.
JANLE is generally identified as the pseudonym of sculptor Jean Lemoine, an artist associated with Max Le Verrier’s circle. Through this composition, the sculptor emphasizes the grace and femininity of the model, in a dynamic and refined pose, typical of the 1930s.
Max Le Verrier surrounded himself with many major artists of his time, among them Pierre Le Faguays, Raymonde Guerbe, Marcel Bouraine, Jean Lemoine, Charles Charles and Charles Delhommeau. He notably oversaw the edition of their creations, thus contributing to the diffusion of French decorative sculpture in the interwar period.
The sculpture rests on a faceted marble plinth, whose presence further emphasizes the decorative and luxurious nature of the whole.
Some micro-scratches on the marble plinth that in no way affect the decorative aspect and the quality of this very beautiful piece for collectors.
