Beautiful large Art Deco sculpture of a pair of pheasants on a marble base – France – c. 1920/1930
Description: Offered: an elegant and very characteristic Art Deco animal sculpture (sculpture animalier) from the 1920s-1930s, depicting a pheasant couple. The birds are beautifully stylized with long, graceful tails and a refined detailed texture in the feathers. The statue is made of patinated zamak (spelter) with a warm, deep bronze-colored patina and sits on a sleek, solid black marble pedestal. This type of sculpture is typical of the well-known French animal sculptors of the Art Deco period, such as Irénée Rochard and Salvatore Melani. This particular piece is unsigned. A stunning, authentic interior piece that, due to its generous size and clean lines, is an absolute eye-catcher in any vintage, classical, or modern interior.
