Religious objects (3) - Bronzed brass, Brass - 1930-1940 - Cartagloria Triptych

Cartagloria Triptych (also known as the Table of the Canon or the Secret Tables), an important liturgical aid used since the 16th century in the Tridentine Mass (or the Latin Mass of Saint Pius V).

Central Cartagloria measuring 21.5 x 28 x 4.5 cm is the largest in the set, topped by a small cross, and contains central texts of the Tridentine Mass such as the Gloria and the Credo.

Lateral Cartaglorie, measuring 21.5 x 14 x 4.5 cm, are two smaller tablets, also with a top cross; one bears the beginning of the Gospel of John (Initium S. Evangelii Secundum Joannem), while the other contains the prayers for the washing of the hands (Sacerdos cum lavat manus).

Beautiful complete specimens that present a graphic style influenced by Art Deco / Beuronese style (first half of the 20th century) and are set in a frame of bronzed brass finely worked with pedestals and finials topped by crosses.

Despite their age they are in good condition, although there are stains and small oxidations on the metal. Glass panes intact and the inscriptions clearly legible, hence in excellent condition.
