A beautiful and authentic Jian ware tea bowl from the Southern Song Dynasty (1127–1279), produced at the Jian kilns.
The bowl displays a classic Jian ware form and is covered with a beautiful lustrous brown glaze, ranging from warm chestnut to deeper reddish-brown tones. Fine hare’s-fur (Tuhao) streaks can be seen running through the glaze, particularly around the interior, creating an elegant and naturally varied surface.
One of the most attractive features is the beautiful flowing glaze. The thick glaze runs naturally down the exterior and gathers toward the lower part of the bowl, creating rich variations in thickness, tone and texture.
