Linen table service from Lombardia, Italy, dating to 1950–1960 in Art Deco style, including one large tablecloth (255 cm x 160 cm) and 12 coordinating napkins, all hand-embroidered with carved motifs and fine lace edging, in good used condition with minor age-related stains that are removable with delicate washing.
Description from the seller
Table service Grand Gala of vintage era in linen.
Finest hand embroidery with relief and hand needle lace.
For 12 people (with 12 napkins)
Refined and elegant complete table service for 12 people, belonging to the original family heirloom of grandmother.
The tablecloth and the 12 coordinated napkins are entirely handmade crafted and finished on a precious natural linen fabric in écru color with a fresh and substantive weave.
Details and workmanship:
Hand embroidery:
splendid floral decoration executed with great mastery in satin stitch and chain stitch.
Relief work:
Impressive leaf inserts shaped in relief with finely worked lace/needle lace edging.
Borders:
Both the tablecloth and the napkins feature a delicate perimeter edge shaped into a festoon (festoon stitch) entirely done by hand.
Set composition:
1 large dining tablecloth + 12 coordinated embroidered napkins.
Storage/condition:
The service is in overall excellent preserved condition, never used or rarely used, maintaining the original fabric’s texture.
*Transparency note:*
Being an antique item kept for a long time in a trunk, there are some light storage/aging stains (as clearly shown in the dedicated photos).
These halos are typical of antique fabrics and are removable with a delicate wash specifically for vintage linen or traditional stain removal.
A piece of craftsmanship from another era, perfect for elegant tables, ceremonies or for collectors of antique fabrics.
