Large carved wooden table lectern, blue lacquer and gold leaf, Italian Baroque, from the Veneto or Lombardy area. It has the original blue lacquer and a reading surface with adjustable tilt, thanks to a toothed rack support that allows you to choose the angle. It can also be closed for storage.

Base for very large book: about 70 x 60 cm.

The central panel is high-relief carved and depicts the Madonna with Child and Saint John the Younger, flanked by Saint Helena with the cross and another saint, beneath a radiance of light among flowering trees. The group is gilded with gold leaf and stands out against the blue background.

The piece is rich in carvings: the cornice with acanthus scrolls and rosettes, side scrolls with leaves and flowers, and the carved frieze under the shelf.

It rests on four turned bulbous feet with gilded touches. The back is lacquered in the same color.

A valuable piece for collectors of antique furniture, liturgical objects, or period study furnishings.
