Hollywood Regency table lamp – Murano-style glass flowers & crystal butterflies – Italy, c. 1970
Very decorative Italian table lamp in exuberant Hollywood Regency style, dating from circa the 1970s.
The gold-colored metal construction is shaped as an elegant bouquet of curved stems and finely engraved leaves. Among them are four large white-opaline glass flowers in Murano style, beautifully formed with transparent glass edges and gold-colored caps.
The floral ensemble is further enlivened by several butterflies in gold-toned metal, whose wings are adorned with individually mounted, faceted clear glass elements. Also between the leaves there are several cut glass accents. The tall twisted central stem and the mirrored round base complete the very rich design.
The lamp is crowned by its large, elegant fabric shade with a wavy rim and long fringe. When the lamp is lit, this shade provides warm and atmospheric light and the glass flowers, crystal accents and gold-colored foliage are beautifully highlighted.
The lamp is in very good vintage condition for its age. The decorative metal section and the glass elements have been well preserved. The lampshade shows a small local damage to the fabric on the rear side. This is located at the back and is hardly noticeable with normal use; when the light is off it is barely visible.
