Brand Dejou, model Charrette à bœufs en bois/citerne, a beech and alder wooden toy dating to 1940–1950 in good condition from France, with a configuration 80 cm wide, 25 cm high and 25 cm deep and without the original box.
Description from the seller
This is an old wooden toy, in its original period patina, representing a team of oxen hitch with a small handmade toy fire tanker truck.
The chassis: a long wooden plank with 3 rocking axles. The metal-tubed tank sits on top. It is typically an artisanal toy from the 1950s. A well-worn item, patinated wood. In its period look.
Perfect for a workshop decor, a child’s shelf, a collection of antique toys.
An Auvergnat hitch (ox-drawn cart and its wagon), presumably built by the French manufacturer Jouets Dejou between the 1940s and 1950s. Overall good aesthetic condition with its patina and wear (missing a small chain and the tail of one ox).
The in-house foreman Géraud Nissou, charmed by the peasant draft teams of the era, submits this prototype, produced in 200,000 copies.
Main features:
Origin: made in Auvergne by the Dejou company, famous for its wooden animals and carts.
Composition: two oxen carved from raw wood, yoked together, and a wooden-wheeled cart with a metal banding.
Model: this type of piece often corresponds to the draft-team or ox-drawn cart model listed under reference 907 in the brand’s old catalogs.
Wonderful collectible piece or vintage decorative item, ideal for a rustic, warm ambiance.
Detachable toy for careful shipment!
