On offer I have for you a beautiful and very well working Zeiss-Ikon Box Tengor (model 55/2) box camera.
But this camera is special. Namely, the Box Tengor model 55/2 was produced from 1939 up to 1948 and was entirely in matte black lacquer. The 1939 model had the shutter release button on the top of the camera.
From 1948 the Box Tengor 56/2 was produced with a silver/chrome-colored front plate frame, and the shutter release was moved to the right side.
Now, the camera on offer has all the features of the 56/2 model, but the shutter release is on the top as in model 55/2.
This would concern a few batches of cameras that were produced due to leftover stock materials that had to be processed. Thus this odd combination of two models (55/2 and 56/2), something I think is not very common.
Everything on the camera works very well.
It uses 120 roll film, which is still readily available in photographic shops.
Please note that when you want to use the camera (with or without film inside) you must first wind it (with the large round knob on the right) until a red flag appears in the tiny window at the top right. Only then can you take a shot.
On the top left of the camera there is a sliding switch with the letter "T" on it. When this slider is pulled upward, the shutter stays open as long as the shutter release is pressed.
Three focus ranges can be set: from 1 to 2 meters, from 2 to 8 meters, and from 8 meters to infinity.
The aperture can be set between f/11, f/16 and f/22.
To open the camera for loading film, you must first pull the small round button (below the film rewind knob) so that an internal latch is released, and only then can you pull the back off. Caution: not too hard, or you may damage the camera strap.
I have tested the camera with an old test roll of 120 film and everything worked very well. Once the film is properly loaded and advances, you can put the back on again. Then open the viewfinder window and wind the film until you reach the number "1". The camera is then ready for the first shot.
The device is in nice condition with minimal signs of use. See photos.
