Ancient Russian Orthodox icon depicting Christ Pantocrator with a riza (the embossed metal protective covering).

On the open book (the Gospel) held in Jesus' hand is inscribed a famous gospel passage written in Old Ecclesiastical Slavic (the liturgical language of Russian icons). The text inscribed on the metal riza is taken from the Gospel according to Matthew (11:28). Translated into Italian, the text reads:"Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest."
