Icon - Wood - Saint Seraphin and Scenes

Saint Serafím of Sarov (1754–1833), one of the most venerated saints of the Russian Orthodox Church.

In icons he is usually recognizable by:

- White, long beard and an ascetic elder appearance.
- Monastic dress, typically with a dark mantle.
- He may appear with his hands over his chest or kneeling on a rock, in a posture of prayer.
- He sometimes carries an Orthodox rosary.
- He is commonly depicted with a very serene and humble face.

Saint Serafím was a monk and hermit of the Sarov Monastery and is especially known for his teaching on the acquisition of the Holy Spirit, prayer, and love of one's neighbor.
