Description from the seller
Wooden stereoscope + 35 stereoscopic photographs – early 20th century
Original stereoscope from the early 20th century along with a collection of 35 stereoscopic photographs.
The stereoscope allows viewing taken-in-pairs photographs as a single, three-dimensional image – analog 3D from over 100 years ago. The wooden viewer is equipped with two lenses, a contoured face shield, and a sliding handle enabling the photographs to be set at the proper distance.
The set includes 35 original stereoscopic cards from various publishers. Among them are photographs by H.C. White Co. from the series “The Perfec-Stereograph,” marked with a patent from April 14, 1903, as well as photographs by other publishers from the era. Motifs include Niagara Falls, London, architecture, urban views, and genre scenes.
All preserved in authentic vintage condition. The wooden stereoscope bears natural signs of age and use, just as the over-century-old photographs do – discoloration, wear, and local signs of use visible on the images.
Period: early 20th century, mainly around 1900–1910
Material of stereoscope: wood, glass, metal
Number of photographs: 35
Publishers: e.g., H.C. White Co. / The Perfec-Stereograph
Origin of the photographs: USA and Europe
Condition: original vintage, age-appropriate
