Magnificent Louis XV-style mantel clock in chased and gilded bronze, Napoleonic III era, circa 1880-1895.
Very decorative Rococo-inspired model, richly ornamented with scrollwork, shells, flowers and foliage. In the lower part, a cherub / putto sitting and playing cymbals, very finely chased.
Round dial with gilded engraved background, with 12 white enamel cartouches bearing blue Roman numerals, very bright and in good condition. Original Louis XV hands in blued steel. Pearled bezel.
Original mechanical movement with chain, 8 days, with bell strike. Balance wheel with a lens visible at the back through a glass door. The movement runs, winding does not slip.
Sold with 2 keys: 1 original ancient iron key with ring and 1 new modern key caliber 6 (36/10) which works perfectly.
Original gilded bronze with its old patina. Normal wear to the gilding on a few edges, no breaks, no welds, no losses. Enamel dial in very good condition, no chips.
