Radiola RA125U “Radiolo” Luxe valve radio, made in France in 1954, finished in pastel mint green with a moulded polystyrene cabinet, weighing 2,200 g and measuring 22 × 14 × 10.5 cm, supplied with a power supply, in very good original condition and complete, untested.
Description from the seller
Beautiful and highly decorative Radiola RA125U “Radiolo” Luxe, manufactured in France in 1954, presented in its particularly attractive pastel green finish.
A wonderful example of French post-war industrial design, the Radiolo combines compact proportions with the unmistakable styling of the 1950s. Its moulded polystyrene cabinet features softly rounded lines, an elaborate geometric front grille and a striking circular tuning dial surrounded by a gold-tone ring.
The dark burgundy Radiola script, matching control knob and large central tuning knob with its distinctive star emblem create a beautiful contrast with the pale mint-green body. The original dial displays numerous European and North African broadcasting locations, including Paris, Bruxelles, Lyon, Marseille, Toulouse, Tunis and Alger, giving the radio additional period character.
The RA125U is a superheterodyne valve radio, designed for Long Wave and Medium Wave reception. It was originally equipped with the UCH81, UAF42, UL41 and UY42 valve configuration.
This example is especially attractive for its excellent state of preservation, originality and completeness. The polystyrene cabinet is in very good vintage condition, without cracks or breaks, and retains its original front grille, speaker cloth, tuning dial, knobs, rear panel, electrical cable and period plug.
Only minor traces of age and use are present, entirely consistent with an authentic object dating from 1954. No restoration has been carried out, preserving its original character and appearance.
The radio has deliberately not been electrically tested, as it was designed for approximately 125 V and should therefore not be connected directly to a modern 220–240 V European power supply. Any testing or servicing should be carried out by a qualified specialist using appropriate equipment.
With its beautiful pastel colour, compact dimensions and remarkably complete condition, this Radiola is not only an interesting piece of historic radio technology but also a striking example of 1950s French design, ideal for a collection or as a distinctive decorative object in a vintage, Mid-Century or contemporary interior.
