For sale here the Yamaha K-1000 - a vintage 3-head cassette deck from the 1980s, prized for its excellent audio performance, clean recordings, and direct-drive motor.
It works very well. It has just one minor cosmetic defect: the small cover for the power button (POWER) came off and got lost, so I had to improvise a makeshift cover for that spot (see photos).
Sound and Dynamics: According to audiophile communities (such as Tapeheads), the unit delivers impressive playback and recording quality, rivaling top-tier models from competing brands.
Noise Reduction: It features Dolby B and dbx systems, with the latter offering extended dynamic range and an exceptionally high signal-to-noise ratio.
Direct Drive Mechanism: Unlike other decks, it utilizes a stable direct-drive motor, meaning there is no need to worry about wear on the main capstan belts.
Frequency Response: It achieves a range of 20 to 21,000 Hz with metal tapes and up to 20,000 Hz with Chrome tapes.
